Our 15 month old daughter has had the item for about 2 weeks now and plays with it daily for extended periods of time. She is fascinated with lights and loves the light above the sink, she's too short to turn it on by herself though. Overall the item is very good quality and assembly was easy, took less than an hour. Glad we bought the 125 piece accessory food set to go with it, otherwise kitchen would be a little bare. Holiday promotional price [...] WHAT A DEAL!!! Lots cheaper than local toy store. Very happy with purchase. Would of loved to have the Grande walk-in kitchen but felt the size of it would someday become a hassle. This is nice and compact and fits against a wall very nicely. Plenty of stuff for her to do with all the doors that open and close.Assembly Note: make sure to have a power drill on hand.

I purchased a lifestyle kitchen in 2004 and was extremely satisfied with the purchase. However, I just purchased the lifestyle dream kitchen and was surprised to see that the quality of the product was not equal to the one I purchased in 2004. Although it looks similar, the doors (oven, microwave and refrigerator) are nothing like the older model. When I inquired with Step2, I was told that they changed the way they manufacture the product from a roto molded appliance doors to injection molded doors.

At the time that I purchased the product from the Step2 website they were displaying the product with the higher quality roto molded doors and this is not what I received. Of course, a new photo was posted to the website as soon as I brought this to Step2's attention and I was told I could ship if it back (at my expense) for a refund. But, after taking the time to put it together that seemed like more trouble than it was worth.

Comments about Step2 LifeStyle™ Dream Kitchen:

I am a daddy and just bought this (from Step2 directly)for my 2 year old little girl for her birthday June 3rd and I really don't know where all the negative comments are coming from, except to think that there are ALWAYS those few who complain about everything. It took about 2 hours to fully put together and that was mostly doing the stickers and odd-and-ends. The doors came attached already and you just have to assemble the main parts, door knobs and stickers. When she unwrapped it (assembled), her face lit up! She started playing with everything right away. I DO suggest that you get a large food accessories package to go with this as the food things they include are not really quality items and do not include the normal items for sandwiches, the refridge, ect. The oven door DOES NOT fall like others have said. I agree with some others that injection molded products do not look as good or as detailed as roto products (they should not have switched manufacturing processes), but it is what it is. In all, I think this is a great little kitchen for little ones who love to pretend cook and I am looking forward to a lot of fun times with my daughter as she cooks for daddy! I added a picture to show size and look in accordance to my little one.

I bought this set as a gift for my grandchildren, ages 16 months to 5 years old.
They all love it; It is still very new so they did not get to try all the features as yet.
