This kitchen is absolutely adorable! We love it. We set up Christmas Eve, with a big red bow, for our 2 1/2 yr. old daughter to wake up to on Christmas morning. She saw it, and we couldn't get her out of it, to even open her other presents. She loves the little burner that boils and sizzles, that's her favorite part. She sits on the little stool in front of the stove, and "cooks." It is so cute! Assembly was extremely easy, as the instructions were great. All the accessories are wonderful, tons of food, pans and dishes. There are only a few things I was disappointed with; there were a couple of big scratches on the countertops, it's like somebody with a box cutter must have cut them before boxing them up. I read other reviews where people mentioned this, but I was hoping I would luck out. But they aren't that noticeable, as the counters are maroonish. There should be more storage space under the stove, like there is above the fridge. The kitchen looks bigger in the Step 2 picture, then it really is, but it is still big enough. And for the price of the kitchen, I think it should be a bit heavier. The plastic isn't as thick as I thought it would be. But maybe it was made that way, so it could be moved around more easily. All in all, it is really great, and I do most definitely recommend it, but for younger children, probably 3 to 5, as the counters are not that tall, they are about perfect height for my daughter who is almost 37" tall. She can sit on the stool, or stand, and play comfortably. Not for older children, it would just be too small. I'm adding a picture of Lily in her kitchen, so you can compare the size for your own child.

I really like this kitchen (as does my 1-yr old daughter), but similar to other users' comments the assembly was not as represented...I had no problem following the directions but at least a dozen holes needed to be drilled, despite the fact that the instructions indicated holes should have already been there. (There were indentations where the holes SHOULD have been but apparently they were missed in production.) Fortunately I had someone who could drill them for me but, if not, what would someone do? Re-package and ship back 2 huge boxes?? I was very frustrated that based on other user comments[...] it seems this has been a problem for quite a while, but Step2 hasn't done anything to remedy the issue.

Comments about Step2 LifeStyle™ Grand Walk-In Kitchen:

I bought this product for my daughter's third birthday. I wanted to get her a kitchen that she could grow with and this was the perfect choice! My 5 year old son has also been interested in this kitchen. This has occupied both of my children for several hours. I love all of the accessories with this kitchen! The kitchen did take an hour and a half to put together and was aggravating at times but the end result was worth it. This kitchen is definitely something that we will be able to enjoy for years.

I searched for hours to try to find the right kitchen for our 17 month old. We noticed her playing with a cousin's kitchen and ended up buying this the next day. We wanted something she could use now but also grow into. Not only can she easily access all of the features it is just big enough without being too large. Great purchase for the money and I would buy this again! She loves it!

Marcy A: It's the biggest walk in kitchen I could find for my 4 year old daughter and 2 year old son. I love it. I should say they love it:-) Mar 29, 2013
A shopper asked: Do the burners on this kitchen make any special noises when you place the frying pan on them? What about noises from other parts of the kitchen? I love the design, but the noises drive me crazy. Mar 28, 2013

Casey H: I bought this kitchen set for my son for his 2nd birthday. He is four now and doesn't play with it much anymore, but my 19 month daughter loves it. The burner makes a frying pan noise and lights up when you set a pan on it. There is a phone that has buttons that makes noise, and the microwave has buttons that make noise. The noises aren't that loud, and I don't find them annoying at all. Mar 28, 2013

Kenny T: Yes, the burners will either make a frying or boiling noise depending on if you use a pot or pan but it will stop after approx 10 seconds. Other parts of the kitchen that make noise are the microwave and cordless phone. Nothing too annoying I find, but that's me. Have had many fun moments playing with my daughter. Mar 28, 2013

Brandy A: Yes, the stove does make a noise, as well as the phone and microwave. But its not loud at all. My two girl are 4 years apart and they both love this play set. I have purchase 3 large items from this web site so far and they last long and my kids love them. It encourages creativity. Apr 2, 2013

Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (1) No (0)
esther s: I haven't tried to disassemble the kitchen but I can see it being possible. To walk the kitchen through a door, I removed two screws to get the table part off. Without that part, the kitchen fits through a standard door easily. Apr 9, 2013
Reply to esther Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Heather K: There are 6 screws you can undo to disassemble this. Basically two screws per top arch, and two screws for the counter. These three pieces are what connect the two sides. It's not too hard. Apr 4, 2013

Leigh: could you move it from one house to another? Apr 4, 2013

Zoe M: I bought this product for my 1 year old twin grandchildren. They will be three in June and still love this kitchen. They are tall but not 4 years old so I cannot be sure if her height will be an issue. I do think children, girls & boys enjoy play kitchens long after 4 years old.
Your English is wonderful. I would be very proud of myself if I could express myself in a second language as well as you have.

Zoe M: Yes, my daughter-in-law moves kitchen from indoor play area to outside and to children's bedroom. I bought this as a 1st b-day gift - best gift ever. Twins turning three in June and little one year old brother play in it daily. May 7, 2013
Reply to Zoe Good answer? Yes (1) No (0)
Cathy M: No, it's indoor for us. If it was used outdoors, I would think that the stickers would come off with the weather. If you don't mind that, the plastic is durable for indoor/outdoor use. May 6, 2013
Reply to Cathy Good answer? Yes (1) No (0)
Holly A: The mat on the bottom that acts as the "floor" as the kitchen (it looks like faux wood) is a foam one therefore I don't think it would hold up outside unless you took it out or it was under an awning. There are two sidebars that hold the floor mat in and that would be a tripping hazard if it was placed on grass. Also there are mechanical noises and such so I don't think rain would be a good idea. May 7, 2013

Dahlia A: I purchased this kitchen for my daughter who is approx 37 inches. She is 4 in one month but on the smaller side. She LOVES this kitchen. However, the top is actually open so the child would only have to hunch when entering & exiting. My friends older children enjoy playing w/ this kitchen as well. Some hunch, some kneel. I see this kitchen as long lasting. Apr 1, 2013
