Only annoyance was door sticking. This was easily corrected by minor filing.

Installation was simple and went very well - by-the-book-

It's storage capacity was perfect over a 8 day period of mail accumulation while on vacation.

Since it has a "broad" silhouette; I'm very interested in how it will hold up to snow plowing this winter.

After 3 weeks very satisfied. The mailbox has met all my expectations, and the cost was reasonable.

(this advertised at numerous sites. The best cost + shipping value was by ordering direct from Step 2.

[...] Fit of top mail doors (front & rear) is critically dependent upon proper positioning of already-installed latch magnets, which were poorly positioned on the delivered unit. Steel latch tabs on the top two doors meerly press into slots in the doors with only barbs to secure them. One was hanging out on one tiny barb all but completely free from the door. This needs better fastening design. The sidewalk-side upper door is situated directly above a metal structural cross piece. Examination of the path for rain water entering from around the sidewalk-side top mail door indicates likely flow directly into the lower mail accumulation space to produce soggy mail. This nice idea for a mailbox needs design refinement. This plus quality production assembly at the factory [...] and installation by the customer could result in a winner product, which the current product is clearly not. Comments about Step2 MailMaster® StoreMore Mailbox:

This is the second of this mailbox we have purchased. We have two homes, getting ready to retire. We live in a neighborhood with several families that travel as often as possible. We no longer have to ask someone to come by to get our mail for us everyday. We have snow in the winter and heat in the summer and have no problems with fading or cracking.

Had to add latch on back door, when mail man put all mail in at once it pushed the back door open. Small latch worked great.

Comments about Step2 MailMaster® StoreMore Mailbox:

This is the second StoreMore mailbox that I have purchased since my first one was hit by a car. Both times, I really looked around before buying. There really is no mailbox that has this unique look with the features that it has and at a resonable price. The inside does get a little wet when it rains but not horrible. One thing I would like to see is color options. The first one I had matched my house perfectly but is no longer available. If this mailbox ever gets mowed down, I'll probably buy another one.

Comments about Step2 MailMaster® StoreMore Mailbox:

The only problem I encountered was the lock for the backdoor. It took me about 30 minutes to figure it out. I think it should be installed by the company prior to shipment. This is the biggest complaint in all the reviews that I have read prior to my purchase. I also added a small string loop to the large back door. It does stick a little bit and the string helps open the door without prying open the door. Other than that everything was very simple.

Vivian B: This is a replacement for one I purchased several years ago. I was very happy with the first one, esp. the storage capability. However, it could not withstand impact of large truck, and must be replaced. The key is sometimes difficult to operate, but not a major problem. Apr 29, 2013
Mary Jo B: I already have the same mailbox, without the storage feature, that I love.. Apr 29, 2013

nancy h: It was a way for making our mail pick-up easier for family when we are out of town, they can't get to the P.O. during working hours, and this way they can come by any time and pick-up our mail for us. Apr 1, 2013
Randy H: Secure mail delivery Mar 31, 2013
Humberto P: This is the second StoreMore Mailbox I have purchased. This one is replacing one that was hit by a car. The look and the features make this mailbox stand out from the others with a price that is very reasonable. Unfortunately, they no longer make the color that I had (beige/terracotta)but I like it so much that I'll settle for this one. Step2 needs to continue to make these kinds of mailboxes with different color options. Mar 27, 2013
Bethann G asked: Is it possible to have this mailbox free-standing on a porch or does it need to be installed on a post? I have a large home, with the old, brittle asbestos siding that I do not want to attempt to drill holes for a conventional hanging mailbox. But I do have a large porch, out of the weather that it could sit on. Would this work? May 7, 2013

Jerffrey C: The unit will sit upright on its own. Remember that this stands about 4 feet tall but only weighs about 6-7 pounds, so it needs some weight to keep it from being tipped easily. It does have a base that slips over the post that the whole assembly attaches too. I belive that it has a filler cap so you can fill the base with water/sand/concrete and it may be heavy enought to keep it upright in all conditions. Worse comes to worse you can always just put some bricks in the bottom and that may work too. There is a lot of space in the bottom section. May 8, 2013

Edward C: the post provides the stability for the mailbox to stand straight and it is very solid. If you were not going to use the lower section for vacation mail you could put a bag of sand or block to give it additional support weight. Not sure how well that may do. We don't use the locked door for mail, bought it mainly for the way it looked as a whole. It has weathered and held up very well. Very pleased with it, looks nice too. Hope that helps. May 10, 2013

Debra J H: I don't think it will work for that unless you can find some kind of pole to slip it onto that has a base. It doesn't have a heavy base to sit on and it would probably fall over. Or maybe a small bag of sand in the bottom to help hold it steady. I really love my mail box in fact I had someone run into it and broke it and I immediatley bought another one. Maybe someone else can come up with an idea. May 8, 2013

Carol K: Our mailbox is at the curb and is mounted on a post and my husband made it very secure. I don't know whether free standing will work. You would have to anchor it securely somehow so it wouldn't tip over. Perhaps you could mount it on a board and secure the board to your porch floor. Good luck. May 8, 2013

          Larry L: Bethann,

The mailbox needs to be mounted on 4X4 post wherever you want to mount it. If you design some sort of platform on your porch for the 4X4 to fit in you may be able to mount the box on your porch, but the mailbox is made to have part of the 4x4 in the ground.

KAREN H: No, it really needs to be put on a post. I would think it would be top heavy if not anchored. We put a post in the flower bed next to our porch and placed it so that the door was facing our step area. May 9, 2013
