My boy just turned 1 year old and I got it for his birthday; he loves it! He can't go fast on it yet as he can't quite coordinate his feet because he just started walking, but it helps him with his balance and it makes for great fun when I push him around the house. (it's definitely safe if your 1 year old is big like mine, otherwise, i'd wait 'till 18 months or so).
He gets upset if I don't do it fast enough!
Since he can't say bike he calls it his "vroom-vroom". Great experience.

Was very very disappointed in this model. We bought the previous version of it 12 years ago for our oldest and have looked for another one like it every since. We were so excited to see Step 2 was again putting it back into production only to find that this was the newer model. The 1st requires balance and taught young children much needed motor skills. All of our children including our girls have ridden the old one, that is still very much being used, and at the age of 4 taken off on a bike without the aid of any training wheels. Very disappointed in this newer bike and desperately wanting the old one to be put back into production.

I bought this for my grandson's birthday tomorrow. I put it together and the back wheels won't turn. This is not a hard toy to put together but what's the point if he can't ride it. I will be shopping tomorrow for his new birthday gift and see if I can return this waste of money! :(

Recommended Age limit seems a little too mature. My 2 year old fits it just right and is able to play with it no problem and he's on the small side. Looks cool and seems durable enough but time will tell. Assembly wasn't bad. Sometimes the illustrations were a little vague especially with the "hub caps". Needs Aprilia or Ducati Decals for the gas tank though. Overall very satisfied and highly recommend it.

I would make it steerable with maybe a locking mechanism for the younger kids that could be removed as they are coordinated enough to steer it.
