We bought this for Christmas for our then 26 month old twin daughters. They were small for their age, but quickly enjoyed playing with EVER option the house has to offer. We keep ours in the house, since we have the room. Eight months later, the girls STILL play in it everyday, and its a great "catch all" for their other toys. Also, they can mess up THAT house, instead of mine (meaning toys spread around the floor/house/etc). I plan on keeping the playhouse INSIDE for years to come. I am currently pregnant with my second set of twins and feel these little buggers will enjoy it just as much as the girls.
My husband had no problems putting the house together and said it was pretty easy. He did slide wooden dowels into some of the wall joints to add a little extra "sturdiness" to the house.
I would totally recommend this house to anyone who has kids. I can see how keeping it SPOTLESSLY CLEAN outside would be difficult, but, hey, its outside. But I've had no problems cleaning spilled milk out of its sink, or dusting it when it needed it. All in all, its a wonderful product, sturdy and my kids LOVE it, and really, thats all that matters!
Also, as you can see from my picture, the Step 2 "sticker" has fallen off the front of the house. That is the ONLY thing "bad" that has happened to this house, and those kids really play hard in there, as you can see! (Don't worry, every night, we pick up the mess, so they can do it all again the next day!)

My 2 1/2 year old son likes the playhouse okay but it isn't one of his top toys. Because it was a Christmas present we currently have it set up inside. He mainly takes some of his toys into it and plays with them in the floor inside of it. We could have accomplished this with a cheaper house or even a tent. He's not interested in the play sink or stove since they don't really do anything. I picked this playhouse because of the larger size. It is roomy enough for a few kids inside or one kid and one adult sitting on the floor (my husband and I both are tall). There are 4 very small shelves inside and some storage space under the sink. I wish there was more though. There is not much room to store play food or cookware. Also the phone does not stay on the little hook so I won't be surprised if it gets lost quickly. There is a play clock inside over the sink. The placement of the clock makes sense to adults but my son can't reach it and wants to turn the arms. I caught him climbing up on the sink trying to reach it. It would be better if it was at a lower level so that kids could actually play with it. Even better, put it at a lower level and make it talk to help them learn numbers and how to tell time. I'm hoping that as he gets a little older he'll do more pretend play inside. Overall, I think it is a nice playhouse but not I'm not sure it is worth the high price...maybe if they added a few more features.

Comments about Step2 Naturally Playful® Welcome Home Playhouse™:

This was given to us by our neighbor and it was given to them a couple of years ago so it has been used by at least two families before we got it. There is some fading of the RED shutters and door, and the table top was missing along with the decals and phone, and the skylight was cracked. I called the company and requested information on ordering replacement parts and was surprised how reasonable the prices were and that they were still available. I have to say the customer care employee was probably the most helpful and polite person I have ever dealt with form any company. I ordered all the parts to make the old play house new again and can't wait for them to arrive. The shipping was very reasonable and when I hung up I knew that I'll be buying more toys from this company for our granddaughter over the next few years. I figure if this playhouse has held up this nice for as old as it is then it's from a company who designs their products with care and to last.

I like the fact ant it is double walled and smooth on the inside as well as the outside with no sharp edges. My only disappointment is it doesn't have a floor and where we have it sitting on the patio the pavement was rough. We ended up getting the interlocking foam tiles and made a temple of the inside of the playhouse and cutting the flooring to fit. It will cushion her if she happens to fall and it makes the step over the threshold more gradual. The play house will give our little princess many years of fun in her pre owned house. At 15 months she is already having fun in it.

This is a great product and my girls love it.

I had to ship it to an alternate location because UPS wouldn't deliver it to my house but it wasn't too much trouble. They said they would deliver to a neighborhood but not to houses on a main road (and they wouldn't come down my driveway).

We absolutely LOVE this playhouse! It has more than enough room for all three of my children to play in together! It's big enough that I know they will be able to enjoy for many more years (I can stand up straight in the middle of the house!). They have already spent many hours playing in it and using their imaginations to pretend and be creative! We have other products that are made from the same materials so I know it will be durable and stand up to our harsh weather conditions and last for many, many years to come! It was very quick and easy to assemble and was delivered quickly. We also have the BBQ/picnic table from Step 2 and it goes perfectly with the playhouse! This playhouse is definitely well worth the price!!!

Comments about Step2 Naturally Playful® Welcome Home Playhouse™:

We have had a lot of fun playing with this house..my girls will drive their 4wheelers around it to the big window and pretend they're in a drive thru. I love that it is so big and roomy inside and actually has great height so my kids will not outgrow it for many years to come. I like that it has a kitchen inside, lots of room for storing playfood/dishes under the sink and a good amount of shelves. You can choose to put the table inside up or down. My Girls usually can not use this house in the summer because all the walls and roof pieces have rounded edges where they connect and it creats the perfect nooks for wasp nests, spider nests, pincher bugs, ect. So in the summer the thing is swarming with all sorts of bugs and wasps that come out of the wall and roof cracks when you enter the house. When I ordered this, I read that it can be easily moved for mowing the lawn under it..this is NOT true. My husband, FIL, and I move it carefully and after having it for about 6 months, everytime it is moved the walls come apart and the metal rods don't go back into place right because the plastic is warped! The walls are hollow and have holes on the bottoms so they fill up with rain water and you can see the gross mildew inside through the plastic. There is no drain in the sink and it's a pain to get the dirty water that accumulates in it, out. My duaghter's wanted the sweetheart playhouse because it's so pretty but they were okay with getting this one when they found out how small the other was compared to this. I wish this house came in girly colors because the sweetheart one was just too small. Overall, it isn't worth as much as it costs. We had a lot of fun with this house when we first bought it and it would still be a wonderful house if it were sealed better where the pieces connect, didn't have a problem with water accumulating in the walls and sink, didn't fall apart everytime you try to move it, and it would be great if it had a floor and came in girly colors. The only way I would recommend this to a friend is to warn them to build something to place this on before putting together so it would never have to be moved and getting some sort of spray insulation for between the walls and roof.

Dawn M asked: I have 2 & 6 year old girls. I am looking for a Playhouse that will not be too small for my older (6) Daughter. In my research this is the best option. Does anyone have any feedback or thoughts on how this works with their OLDER CHILDREN? It is a lot of money to throw away if they can not both play with it. THANK YOU ! May 28, 2013

Taryn F: We bought this last year for our then 2 year old daughter. She also has two older brothers. My children are now 3, 6 and 8 and all three of them will often play in the house together. When my boys won't play with their sister, either my husband or I can also sit in the house with her. Since it was so big, and difficult to put together, we left it up over the winter with a large tarp over it. We recently moved and now have a large storage barn where we will store the house in the winter months. I also did a GREAT deal of research before purchasing this product. We have been very happy with our purchase. Jun 1, 2013

Michelle E: I have a 2 year old and a 4 year old, both girls. We love this playhouse! Both girls play inside no problem and the older cousins and neighborhood kids, including boys, play in and around it. At least 3 kids fit inside at a time and the windows open so there is always one or tow playing from the outside through the windows too. This is a great option for multiple kid families. We even had plexiglass cut to put in the topof the door, and kitchen and bay windows for the winter so it stayed dry and snow free. I expect to get many years of use out of this. May 29, 2013

Nicole H: I got this for my 2 year old and was shocked at how large it is. I'm 5'4" tall and can stand up in the center of the house. Also, my husband and I can sit in the house while our daughter makes us 'food' and walks between the sink and the table. So size wise... definitely large enough for older children playing.

As far as the entertainment value for older kids, I think it could be hit or miss. With the younger kid around I think your six year old would enjoy this for at least a few more years before outgrowing it.

Ann M: I also did research on this type of house. I have grandchildren and their friends who come over to play in it! I walk inside of it and play with them. Sometimes there are five or six including myself in the house! It is very nice and very much worth the money! I left it out for a NY winter weather season and it did very well!!! I am so happy with it as I always am with Step 2 products!!! Recommend it highly!!! Sometimes you spend that extra to get something of better quality!!!! May 29, 2013

Cherry Ann L: My kids are ages 2 and 5 years old. The older one is a boy and the youngest is a girl. They both enjoyed playing with it by pretending it is a take out place for ordering. We even sat inside and brought in our own chairs and have meal time. My older son pretended to be a cook. There's much you can do, just need to let their imagination do the trick. Ask them what they would like to do. I hope this helps. May 29, 2013

Marianne C: The box was quite large and heavy. A delivery truck brought it to the end of the driveway. My son and son-in-law moved it into the house.

My grandchildren love the house and play in it a lot. I like that it is large enough for me to enter and have tea parties with them.

I have had it for a year and a half and I can say that it is durable. I do have it indoors though. Not sure how it would take the weather.

Magan M asked: do you think this would be a good item for an almost 2 year old little girl? Jun 16, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Jacob Y: Absolutely! This was a 3rd birthday present, but our 2 year-old also plays with it quite a lot. Worth every penny. One recommendation, build a foundation of patio stone or put on a hard surface. The interior of the playhouse has no floor, so grass will quickly turn to dirt (which turns to mud when wet) inside the house. Jun 16, 2014

Scott M: Definitely. My granddaughters were 1 and 3 when I bought it, and they both love it! It's the best and biggest play house I could find on the market, and worth the price. Hope that helps :) Jun 16, 2014

Big M asked: I noticed that our playhouse has developed a large in the roof. Anyone have any suggestions as to what product i can use to mend this crack, i.e. bathroom caulk, silicone caulk, some kind of patch, or what?

              TIA

Maryann C: Wish I could help, but our playhouse has held up very well. I would imagine what method to use would depend on the size of the crack and where it is located. You might take a picture to your local hardware store for suggestions.
              Good luck!

Step2Staff: If your product is accumulating water, you can drill a ¼ hole on bottom away from any seam line, tip it and this should drain out the water.
