This was the first major, outdoor purchase I made for my daycare. I chose this one because I don't have a lot of experience with Step2 and I wanted to make sure I was satisfied with the quality of their products before I made a big investment. The kids love it and so do I. It is the perfect size for 2 toddlers, 3 if they don't mind being a little crowded. I put it together myself in under 45 minutes. The only issue I had was that the screw that holds the sink/table on didn't quite line up with the hole and eventually fell off. We popped it back in and it sags a little but the kids couldn't care less. I just bought the Naturally Playful picnic table and intend to purchase another, bigger playhouse as well as a climbing structure in the next few months. I would absolutely buy this again and recommend it to anyone looking for a smaller playhouse.

bought this for my granddaughter who is a year and half old. The set is cute the only problem i have with this is. the seats in the house are so small her poor little hinnie cant fit. and the table is flimsy and attached to the seat. I would of perferd it to be on the other side of the house. And the door bell could be louder.

The kids really like it, but for large families whose kids are close in age to each other, the result is a lot of fighting over who gets to do what, where.

My daughter has had this for several years and she loves it. She and her cousins have spent many hours playing with it.
However... it is very hard to clean. The floor looks cute how it is molded but it's almost impossible to get dirt our from the cracks. Also, where to roof attaches to the walls, there is a crack where the bees and spiders make theri homes and I have to un screw it a couple times a week to clear nests. We like to move this inside (a huge plus) in the winter but it really does take a lot of TLC to keep it nice. I always disassemble it to clean it and then move it indoors to reassemble.
A few notes:
-The phone has been lost since the first couple months my daughter got the cottage.
-The seats are small but she doesn't notice.
-The doorbell is really fun.
-The actual door falls off a lot... however a three year old can put it back on... so not a huge deal.
-The roof has faded a bit but it's holding up (especially because we clean it and bring inside each year.)
-I put a tarp over it while it's not in use to keep out the elements and leaves etc.
-They love opening and closing the shutters.
-I put a rug in the bottom to keep it a little cleaner and it provides another spot to sit... makes it "homey"

Our twins consistently play with this playhouse on a daily basis for the last 3 months. It stays inside the cordoned off daily play area inside the house. They hang out there for multiple reasons. They also like to use the mailbox slot with one toddler on each side.
They also really enjoy keeping the door closed at all times. It's taught them quite a bit else.

Comments about Step2 Neat Tidy Cottage:
I bought this playhouse for my two children (aged 2 years and 11 months) for Christmas 2011. It is set up indoors for the winter.
It was the best gift they received by far. I managed to assemble the house completely in about an hour and a half on my own by hand. I could have done it in half an hour to 45 minutes if my drill had been charged.
Even before it was completely finished, both kids were climbing all over me to try and play with it. They spent all of Christmas day playing inside it, ignoring their other new toys.
The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was because the sink did not fit as snug as it should have. I had to secure the sink screw on a 45° angle up to actually make contact with the sink through the wall. Even now, it is still fairly loose. I may disassemble it and add some additional screws into the sink to keep it more secure on a day the kids are out with daddy.
Overall is is a great gift for young children; especially with the open design. My 11 month old son really enjoys going in and out and opening and closing the door. My 2 year old daughter loves to play with her play food inside. I've even caught her setting up a bed in it!

I wrote a review 2 days ago (before i got it all put together)and I had some difficulty getting the screws in. The sports where the screws go in are not started for you. You have to push hard to get the tip to go in before you can use the screw driver to make it go in all the way. Well yesterday my husband helped and he got it in first try. So definitely use 2 people to put it together.
Other than that it is great!! My son actually prefers it over the climber we got at the same time lol
