This was the first major, outdoor purchase I made for my daycare. I chose this one because I don't have a lot of experience with Step2 and I wanted to make sure I was satisfied with the quality of their products before I made a big investment. The kids love it and so do I. It is the perfect size for 2 toddlers, 3 if they don't mind being a little crowded. I put it together myself in under 45 minutes. The only issue I had was that the screw that holds the sink/table on didn't quite line up with the hole and eventually fell off. We popped it back in and it sags a little but the kids couldn't care less. I just bought the Naturally Playful picnic table and intend to purchase another, bigger playhouse as well as a climbing structure in the next few months. I would absolutely buy this again and recommend it to anyone looking for a smaller playhouse.

bought this for my granddaughter who is a year and half old. The set is cute the only problem i have with this is. the seats in the house are so small her poor little hinnie cant fit. and the table is flimsy and attached to the seat. I would of perferd it to be on the other side of the house. And the door bell could be louder.

    Comments about Step2 Neat & Tidy Cottage™:

I bought this playhouse to entertain three kids under 3 at Easter. They LOVED the mail slot and doorbell. We made little pieces of mail with their names on them out of cardboard and they played for hours!

I can't wait until my 7-month-old is able to enjoy her playhouse!

My husband and his friend had this put together in no time. Will definitely look into buying other Step2 products.

      Comments about Step2 Neat & Tidy Cottage™:

I bought this playhouse 3 years ago and it still looks new after 3 full years being outside in the Colorado sun and winter; colors are the same. The kids never get tired of it. We have lunch inside it and I even fit inside with them (siting on the floor). This is one of the best toy I ever bought. I totally recommend this purchase. I like the open concept so I can keep an eye on the kids when they play in it. We always kept it on the deck.

I bought this for my 2 yr old grand dtr. I put it together myself with no problems except trying to identify the correct screws to use. It would help if screws were in separate pkg with labels.
Compare prices again & again. Step 2 doesn't price match.

I have a 2 year old and a 1 year old and they both really like it. We also have a 2 year old cousin that comes over and loves to play in it by herself and with the girls. We put the cottage in an area where we exercise, and the girls have something fun to do when I am busy.

Jennifer B asked: My husband put this cottage together, and the doorbell doesn't work. We used brand new batteries that we just purchased. We also checked the batteries to make sure they were in correctly. Has anyone else had this happen and what should we do? May 15, 2013

pamela m: Didn't have this issue w/Neat & Tidy Cottage, but w/some other children's toys. Try taking the smoother side of an emery board and ruffing up the area where the positive battery contact would touch. May 18, 2013

A shopper asked: Maybe in some areas anchors are not needed. We live in the country and are surrounded by fields. I think our cottage will be blown over on any given day. We are waiting for nicer weather to put it up but I am also looking for a method to keep it in the same spot. Any thoughts? Apr 9, 2013

CLAUDETTE Q: We have had this play house on a large open playground at a childcare center in Arizona for a year now. This area is known for it's incredible windstorms, as well as wind gusts of 40, 50+ mph. The house has never ever blown over. I think you'll be okay with not anchoring it. Apr 26, 2013

Ana B: We definitely don't have fields around us, we live in the DC suburbs, but our Tidy Cottage sat outside through the Derecho in June 2012 and Sandy in October. We have not anchored it and it was barely moved by the strong winds during both storms. Apr 11, 2013

Karla H asked: I have not put this together yet, but do I need to put it together outside or can it go from inside to outside without any hassle? Apr 24, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
CLAUDETTE Q: Probably best to put it together outside. I think it's too wide to go through a house door easily. Plus, it's a bit unwieldy to move around too much. This house was purchased to use at a child care program for 2 year olds. It has done a remarkable job, what with about 50 toddlers running in and out of it every single day for a year. The weakest area would be where the sink is. I have worried all along that, with the children leaning on it, it might break off. However, that has not happened. Good luck! Apr 26, 2013

Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Kelly-Ann F: I haven't found a need to anchor the cottage. The full floor gives stability and it is very open so wind went right through. However my girls are very gentle and the cottage is tucked against a brick wall. Apr 8, 2013
