I absolutely love this table! It was one of the best purchases we've made for our childrens toys. We bought it last Spring for our oldest son's second birthday. He's greatly enjoyed playing with it since. Now we have two children and they both enjoy playing together with it. It truly makes for hours of fun playtime.
Most of the toys that come with it are great. The two boats broke rather quickly, but I suspect that has something to do with the large amounts of abuse an energetic toddler put them through. The rest of the toys have held up extremely well, though one of the trains looks like the little hook may break off soon. But that's really not something I can complain about after nearly a year of wear and tear.
The lid is rather flimsy but that's not too big a deal to me. The biggest con of this table by far is the leak plugs. They are way too loose and it's far too easy for my kids to unhook them and let all the water run out. That's probably my single biggest frustration with this table.
The bottom line is that for the price you can not beat this table. It wins hands down. I have absolutely no regrets about buying it. The kids love it and I love watching them enjoy it.

I would NOT recommend this table for use with sand. The cover snaps tight but the rain water goes right through, so after the first rain all of the sand inside was soaked and there were a few inches of water on top. My two year old looked inside and said "ewwwww!" Also, the wheels do not turn so the sand pours through the funnels and gets stuck and splatters everywhere (there is no way to loosen the wheels). After having the table for a week, the wheels on the train cars also stopped turning from the sand. This table looks adorable but I think Step 2 forgot to test the functionality. We will dump the sand out and use it strictly as a water table, and then we won't have any of these problems. Instead I recommend the Naturally Playful sand/water table. It has a lid that snaps tight so the rain water stays out, it's huge, sturdy, and lots of fun. Two stars because I expect that once we take the sand out it will be a great table.

Glued all bridges and funnel tops before I gave this to my 2 yr old grandson but after it got wet he pulled everything loose. Now when he plays with it the loose pieces are all over the backyard. He likes splashing in the water but I could have bought something for much less money for that. This product was not comparable to other Step 2 products that I have purchased.

We bought this table for our 3.5 year old son for Easter. He absolutely loves it! I was worried it wouldn't hold his attention very long, but I was wrong. He will play with it for at least an hour. Loves the train and loves dumping water into the funnels and having it splash as it comes down. We only use it for water on both sides since I didn't want the mess of the water and sand mixing together and we share out backyard with 2 other families (live in a 3 floor apt), but I'm sure if we did fill it with sand, he would love it as well. Great price and great toy! I just wish it had a plug to drain the water out instead of having to dump it. I'm 9 months pregnant and its a pain having to turn the table over to empty the water. That's my only complaint.
