We were pretty excited to find this one of our favorite stores last week! This table definitely has some nice ugrades from previous years.

The biggest pro is that you have the ability to cover either the sand or water which keeps your table from becoming sand muck city and then having to explain to your child that it takes time for sand to dry!

The toys are entertaining and my daughter has been sending all her little toy people down the waterslide with enthusiasm. Her favorite item is the shark jug which can sprinkle water on the sand or make a waterfall.

I was a bit skeptical about the construction at first - this table is not as sturdily built as the Naturally Playful Sand & Water Activity Table which we also own and love. The legs are only half legs and between the sand and water it is a lot of weight to support.

Also the tower that holds the toys is similarly constructed. I have noticed that Step2 is doing this on more products and while I have not had an actual problem with something coming apart or collapsing they just don't feel very sturdy to an adult.

That aside this table is a fantastic entertainment center for small children and 2-3 kids can play at a time. Step2 delivers on the entertainment factor for this item and it will be going with us on weekend vacations during the summer. If you want to make lots of friends on vacation bring one of these to the kiddy pool!

I bought this for my nearly 2 year old son. I looked into many different sand & water tables & chose this one because of the "extras". The tower thing that you pour water through, doesn't fit together properly and continues to come apart, AND I would think that since the table is for BOTH sand & water, that you would be able to pour either one through it, but you can't, the sand just cloggs it up(and not because it was wet either)

Comments about Step2 Splash & Scoop Bay:

Us this with my 2 year old and great when we have play dates. Love how it all packs down inside itself. Wish there was a better way to pack down the umbrella though. Like maybe a below the table snap in or something. It's great for children under 2 also as just a huge splash tub.

Comments about Step2 Splash & Scoop Bay:

I purchased this product for my home day care. It's sturdy. It's fun. The children love playing in the sand and water. It's great for small children. Because of the size, I only allow two children at a time to play with it. The children have learned to share and take turns. The only problem with it, is that it is not tall enough for children over 5 years old. Other than that it's a great product to purchase.

Great product! My daughters are 5 and 1 and both of them love this product. It's big enough for both of them to play together or by themselves. We have only used water so far, we haven't tried the sand yet since we have only had about a month.

The only thing that I was a little disappointed with was the legs. I wish that they would be molded plastic instead of just plastic legs that snaps in. Otherwise a great product.

My mom got this for my daughter and she loves it. I like the drain plug and the cover. The only complaint I have is the water wheel/slide. It constantly falls apart. My daughter really likes using both sides of the toy and I like that I can cover one up so the other side doesn't get ruined.

Brenda B: I bought this for my granddaughter's 1st birthday. I like how the cover allows for one sided play or lift off and allow both sand and water play. Apr 25, 2013

Darla K: My son is turning 1 year old and we felt this was the perfect gift from his grandma. He absolutely loves playing in water and his 4 year old sister will love both the sand and water sides. We saw it in person at a local store and it's a perfect size and great quality. Having a cover that fits both sides was a must for us to protect from bugs, etc. We also purchased a 60" round umbrella for sun protection. It's the perfect toy for them to enjoy together! :) Apr 16, 2013
A shopper asked: Does the table come with a cover for both sides (to keep it clean overnight, etc) or just one side at a time? Mar 31, 2013

Kristen L: The cover only covers one side at a time, however for safety and cleanliness the water should be emptied after every use. It has a plug in the bottom that easily lets the water drain out. I clean the water side every time to prevent bacteria from growing in the water, and leaving it open to the air will allow it to dry all the way. I keep the cover on the sand side to keep out unwanted "stuff" and I always bring it in overnight. I LOVE this toy and so does my daughter she can't wait for the warmer weather to be able to play with it again! Apr 2, 2013

Angela J: The Splash & Scoop Bay comes with one cover. So, you will have to cover the other side yourself or you will have to constantly clean it. It's a great water table. I was in the process of contacting Step2 to see if I could order another cover so that both sides could be covered and I wouldn't have to do a lot of cleaning. Other than that I like this product. Norma S: NO, The cover can go on either side but will only cover one side at a time. I will say my granddaughter loves the table and it is easy to clean. They usually cover the sand side, since they drain the water from the water side. The nice thing about the "cover" is that it can be used to extend the sand or water play to the whole table. Allison S: No it just comes with a lid for one side. I think when they made this table they assumed kids wouldn't get sand in both sides. HA! Mine was mixed with sand and water from the second my daughter started playing with it. With it being up off the ground though it doesn't attract to many bugs and spiders. Apr 1, 2013
