I think there’s a ton of potential to keep them white or paint - we were experimenting with some colored spotlights that look pretty sharp and then we can change them up anytime. "This is such a great and well made product. The letters are very impressive in size and are actually bigger than some of my blow molds. I love that they can be staked directly to the ground so I don't have to worry about them getting blown away. "I just received the large JOY letters and they are very Saturday and easy to put together. I love the option to fill the base to weigh it down or use the included hooks to tie down to the ground. There are three separate letters that feel substantial rather than flimsy and will resist cracking, fading, and peeling in sun. They also hold up in the rain, and freezing conditions better than cheaper injection-molded yard art, and require almost no ongoing maintenance—no sanding, staining, or painting unless you choose to customize the paintable versions (nutcrackers, village houses, large ornaments, etc. ). The material is the same tough plastic Step2 uses for its outdoor play equipment, so it handles kids, pets, and weather without looking beat up after a season or two. The setup is super easy—minimal assembly, lightweight enough to move around quickly, and the broad base holds sand (we added about 4 lbs. ) so it stays put even on breezy days. We plan to paint ours red and add battery-operated strip lights, so they are visible at night. I highly recommend these JOY letters, they are great!"
