Not great, not bad. . . right down the middle

"I was provided a full product reimbursement in exchange for a review. The package I received was in rough condition and it looked like it was returned, and I received a previously returned product. The chair was scuffed and scratched, and the backrest was ajar, and I pressed and locked it back into position. Use as a Table? I think it's interesting that the backrest flips forward to become a table, but it's ugly as a table. As a table there is a visible clear plastic plug, and I'd prefer to buy a separate table that looks much nicer and isn't so bulky. I don't see myself ever using this product as a table. I think the product designer wanted to fit the chair in a smaller package for shipping (good idea to flip the backrest forward for cheaper shipping), but then they try to market this as a clever feature to use it as a table. It's clever for cheaper shipping, it's not too clever to call this a table - it's just a bulky looking table that looks awkward. Use as a Chair: The plastic feels very thin, but it's what I would expect around this lower price point. The chair is comfortable enough. My personal preference would be to buy a set of more stylish Adirondack chairs or modern looking outdoor plastic lounge chairs with a nice-looking table between them. This chair sits very low to the ground, with very little angle to the seat pan (more angle to the seat would enhance the comfort) - and I've sat in lots more comfortable plastic chairs than this. However, it's not bad, just not great. Note about the moving backrest: When I unboxed this product the backrest was out of position and I had to pop it back into place. I did get a pinched finger when I popped the backrest into place. When the backrest is raised it creates a scissor effect between the lowest point of the backrest and the very back of the seat - this is an unlikely place to have your fingers while raising the backrest, but I did get pinched when popping the backrest back into it's position. If a kid had their arm or fingers through this opening when someone lifts the backrest it could be dangerous - again, highly unlikely. Overall: Not great and not bad. . . right down the middle. Decent chair. Ugly as a table. Packaging was terrible, but I expect I received a previously returned product."

Sturdy and lightweight

"Great and comfortable chair. I love how sturdy it is while also being light enough to move around outside. It's great that it folds down to be a table as well. It comes assembled and ready to use out of the box. My girls loved the box while I relaxed in the chair 🤣"

Great chair

"We love this chair, The frame is sturdy and well-built, and its comfortable and easy to clean. I love that it's designed with a sleek, modern aesthetic that fits perfectly with my outdoor decor. The chair is also super versatile - my kids fit in it as well as me! The weather-resistant materials hold up great! Highly recommend! *Pros:* Durable, comfortable, stylish, easy maintenance *Cons:* None!"

From Chair to Table in seconds

"The SwitchBack Patio Chair came ready to use out of the box, no assembly was needed. The chair made the perfect addition to my patio. One of my favorite features is that this chair doubles as a table. Just fold the top of the seat down and you have a sturdy table to keep drinks, snacks, appetizers, sunscreen or kids toys on. The table is large enough that several people could keep items on it and crowd around it. The chair sits lower to the ground so the table is lower to the ground, as well but I didn't mind that. Another key feature was how roomy the chair was. It is great for kids and adults. The arm rests were a decent size that you could keep a drink on them or just kick back and relax. The SwitchBack chair is lightweight so I am able to carry the chair near my swing set to watch my kids too.   One complaint I do have is that since it is made of high quality plastic it tends to get really hot in the sun. I ended up draping a towel over the seat to make it more comfortable to sit on hot days. The plastic is an advantage for cleaning though because it can just be sprayed down with a hose. Overall, I would recommend this to someone looking for a versatile addition to their patio or backyard especially families with kids.  "

Perfect poolside seat!

"As a mom with a bustling backyard pool, I absolutely adore the Step2 Switchback Chair! It’s become my go-to spot for sipping lemonade while keeping an eye on the kids splashing around. The deep seat and supportive back make it so comfy, even during long summer afternoons. I love how sturdy it is—my energetic crew hasn’t managed to tip it yet and it will hold up nicely to the intense desert sun. Despite the UPS being hard on it and the delivery box looking a bit beat up, the chair was flawless, so it's super durable. It’s super easy to drag closer to the pool when I want to dip my toes in or move to the shade for a break. This chair is a stylish, durable lifesaver for any poolside mom!"

Big and sturdy patio chair

"This chair is way bigger and way sturdier than I was envisioning! It is perfect for a patio or by a pool. My kids fit in it but so do I! I would definitely recommend if you need kids patio chairs."

Multi-Use Step2 Patio Chair

"This multi-use SwitchBack Chair by Step2 is great. The box it was delivered in was pretty beat up, but it did not cause any harm or damage to the product itself. A big selling point for someone like me was the fact that you can take the chair out of the box, unfold it, and unwind. There's nothing more appealing than that, especially for someone who despises the phrase "assembly required. " This chair is light, only weighing 20 lbs, yet sturdy with a max capacity of 300 lbs. The chair is easy to move around and place in different areas of your yard, patio, or even an all-seasons room. I found it was easiest to move when you folded the chair down into table form and carried it by the back handle. The chair, when transformed into a table, can be used for a table on a porch, patio, at the park, or even as a foot rest when you need to kick your feet up after a hard day at work, or play! The durable, dependable, and reliable Step2 material is easy to wipe clean and will not get damaged should it get wet. My only gripe with the chair is that it's a little lower to the ground than I can physically handle daily, but adding a seat (patio) cushion to the chair has helped a little bit for me. My daughter loves this chair and fell asleep in it tonight."

Sturdy and loved product

"This chair is sturdy, it’s waterproof because it’s plastic so could be nice at a fire pit or on your deck. Doubles as a table. Seat is wide. Downfall for me is the height. It sits a bit lower than your average chair. I posted a photo for comparison of a normal deck chair to this chair for a visual but the height isn’t a big deal breaker it’s sturdy and able to be pushed off of by anyone to stand easily. this is a solid product and is well liked by the family."

Awesome chair!

"I love this chair! It is light weight, durable and comes already assembled. Take it out of the box, lift the top up and you’re ready to go! Can be easily stored in the cold months. Can’t wait to relax all summer in my new chair while watching my kids play! Great for enjoying some summertime sunshine!"

Amazing Chair!

"I’m really impressed with the functionality of the SwitchBack Chair! It’s sturdy and well-made, just like all the other Step2 products I own. So far, I haven’t been disappointed with anything from Step2—they consistently deliver great quality."

Q&A

Can this chair be used in a pool sunshelf?
Hi Katie! The SwitchBack Patio Chair™ is not recommended for use on a pool sunshelf, as it doesn’t have a built-in weight system and will float in water. It's best suited for outside of the water around the pool edge, patios and decks!
