Customer ReviewsRated 4 out of 5 by Mom to 4 peas from Awesome Fun! Santa got this for our girls, ages 6 and 3. We just got done putting it together in our large basement (took about an hour), and I actually tried it myself (before I read what the weight limit was ) Well it held up fantastically!!(and I weigh 105). I will not ride it again of course, but I was surprised that it can't accommodate kids over 8 years. It says ages 3-8. I wish they would make one more heavy-duty for older kids (and adults who are kids at heart!), as the steps seem to bow a little when someone heavier than a 6 year old walks up them. Other than that, this is SO much fun I know the kids will be playing with it for long, long time!Date published: 2007-12-23Rated 5 out of 5 by The best Nana. from Lots of fun I gave this to my almost 5 yr old grandson for Christmas. He could not wait for it to be put together. As soon as it was together, he was zooming (his word) down the ramp. My son in law put it together very quickly with no problems. All the parts and screws, etc., were in the box. I really like the fact that the steps are made into the ramp so that it is easy for him to push the cart back up to the top, sit down and go. My grandson is eager for his 3 yr old cousins to come over and ride. I think they will be pushing the cart up the ramp in no time, also. I think this is going to get a lot of use. It seems to be built to withstand that.Date published: 2013-12-28Rated 5 out of 5 by Autism Mom from Super coaster! It's great! We bought this for our son's 7th birthday, after he'd LOVED the smaller coaster at a friend's house. Well, the Extreme Coaster is much more exciting, and so far, we've had kids from 18 months to 9 years old playing on it, and everyone loves it! Our son has special needs, and this is a great, active experience that he can do all by himself. We love that the weight limit is 75 pounds, since our kids are kind of small... we'll get several years of use from this, which is good, since it was pretty pricey. It was easy to assemble - my husband is pretty handy, and he was able to put it together by himself in about 45 minutes.Date published: 2011-08-22Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from Every kid needs one! I have purchased three of these roller coasters: One for each set of grandkids and one for my great nephew. While assembly is a bit tricky (just use the pics and ignore the printed instructions you'll do better!), it's well worth it.Kids of all ages seem to love this. They can actually play themselves by pushing the car up the built in steps. It's just the right thrill level for younger kids and even my 7 year old grandson even still enjoys playing. This is a great gift for long term use. And, if you are price shopping ALWAYS go to Step2 Direct first. You're unlikely to find better prices and the shipping is extremely reasonable.Date published: 2014-08-29Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from Fun! This roller coaster was purchased for our two-year old for Christmas. He adored it. We debated whether we should get the smaller coaster but decided he could grow into this one. We definitely made the right choice! Our son loves it! Because of his age, he does have a little trouble getting the car up the ramp by himself (he usually pushes it up facing the wrong direction) but he is easily able to use the stairs to walk the car to the top. Someone had posted that the assembly was difficult but my husband and I were able to assemble it in an hour or less (and one of us is really not handy.) I have recommended this item to many friends with young children.Date published: 2012-03-02Rated 5 out of 5 by Full Time Grandpa from Favorite toy amoung many toys! Putting the Extreme Coaster together was straight forward and not difficult. I set it up indoors at first to gauge how sturdy it was. As soon as my two grandchildren saw this Coaster they were thrilled. Both the two year old and the three year old were nervous about going down the ramp at first, but by the end of the first day they couldn't push the car up to the top fast enough so they could go speeding down again. I easily removed the ramp where the brace connects with just two bolts, making it easy to move outdoors and set up again. Worth every penny making them this happy and excited about getting "fun" exercise all day.Date published: 2017-03-22Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from Great for older and younger children. I ordered the product after reading several reviews that its was good for older and younger children. That was very important since my grandchildren range in age from 9 months to 7 years. We ordered it for Christmas and set it up in the hallway Christmas day. That was not enough room, and after returning from a family dinner it was carried outside. The children had a blast!!! But it was so cold, we could not let them stay out long; we had to make them come into the house. We have a little bit of a hill which really gives them a long ride. They get a lot of exercise since they have to walk back to ride again. I like anything that is safe and gets them outside, and active. Great product step 2!!!Date published: 2008-01-07Rated 4 out of 5 by Ames from Extreme Coaster = Win! It's a very basic and easy concept. You assemble it and the track actually has steps that your child can walk up. They place the car in wheel wells at the top of the track and then they can push themselves off and roll down the track.ProsMade in the USA!Great design, very durable, Car design is great - it has slots for a seatbelt and footrests and it's very sturdy.ConsThere's only one and it's the instructions. They aren't very clear at all and you'll spend at least 45 minutes putting it togetheri f you are doing it alone.I'm really impressed by this product and my 4 yr old LOVES it. I also love that it's made in the USA.Date published: 2008-03-18
Q & A
Does the box it is shipped in have a picture of the coaster on it? From what I remember it doesn’t have a color picture. But my boy who was 5 at the time would be able to tell what it is just from the step 2 logo. Date published: 2018-12-15
Which coaster is faster? Hot wheels or extreme coaster?I don’t have hot wheels so I can’t say, but extreme coaster is fast and lots of fun for our girls! Date published: 2018-12-11
What coaster would be preferred for a 5+ year old. The extreme coaster or the extreme thrill coaster with longer track. Can't decide which one to purchase. They both look great. Are they both equally as fast?I would probably go with the longer track for sure. Not sure of the speed difference though Date published: 2018-12-06
