To set up your Step2 planter as a self-watering plant container, do not drill any holes in the bottom. Instead, drill a fill hole around the top rim and a seep hole on the side (indented drill points included). Then, insert a wicking material through the internal tray, ensuring it reaches from the tray to the bottom floor of the planter. Once soil and plants are added, add water to the reservoir until it reaches the seep hole. Over time, the water will move up the wicking material to saturate the soil as needed, maintaining even moisture levels for healthy root growth. Overall, this highly functional plastic planter provides the signature Step2® durability that will enhance any landscape, patio, or indoor space for many years to come.
